Compensation: $20.00 - 22.00 per hour

What You’ll Do

The Career Pathways & AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will be responsible for youth and young adult development through career exposure and preparation; support the career development program/curriculum across multiple BGCWPA locations; support internships, pathway programs, certifications and understand the needs and demographics of under-served communities. In relation to the AmeriCorps Program responsibilities, this person will support the management of BGCWPA’s AmeriCorps LEAD Program. AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects over 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, health, and homeland security. AmeriCorps’ members serve with more than 2,000 non-profits, public agencies, and community organizations. This position is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing, detail-oriented individual with outstanding project management skills and a passion for working with youth and young adults to ensure their Great Futures. This position reports to the Senior Director of Career Development.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of Career Pathways and Career Works High Programs, including administrative tasks
  • On-site (and virtual as needed) program coordination, supervision of teens and AmeriCorps members, and program staff support
  • Support programming focused on academic remediation, real-world projects, direct instruction, field trips and site visits, job shadowing, professional networking opportunities and internships that help youth and young adults build career awareness and put them on pathways to success.
  • Support partnerships that will enhance programming opportunities
  • Conduct activities designed to create awareness of careers and career potential. 
  • Coordinate attainment of recruitment and enrollment goals, family engagement and community outreach to meet the goals of the AmeriCorps and Career Pathways Programs
  • Support case file management and application processes
  • Support coordination of site-visits, field trips, and presentations by professional speakers to provide well-rounded exposure to various career paths
  • Support work-based learning experiences through individualized Career Coaching, programmatic planning, and lesson implementation
  • Maintain current knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations affecting career and technical education, including awareness of career clusters
  • Work to identify and define local job opportunities and support youth in gaining access to and confidently pursuing such employment opportunities
  • Interact with parents, outside agencies, businesses and community to provide support and assistance to students and programmatic ventures. 
  • Attend Staff trainings based on availability and program necessity
  • Ensure the safety of all students
  • Assist with operational management as needed
 

AmeriCorps Program Roles & Responsibilities 

 
  • Become the primary person with familiarity with AmeriCorps rules and regulations 
  • Ensure that the program is in full compliance with AmeriCorps regulations by building systems and through regular monitoring alongside Directors and Managers
  • Lead recruitment and selection efforts, ensuring that all member slots are filled from a diverse pool of candidates
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as maintaining member files, assisting with criminal history checks, approving member timesheets and reimbursements, and coordinating logistics for trainings 
  • Provide support to all AmeriCorps members, including team meetings, training, tracking of member hours, and performance reviews
  • Support AmeriCorps member orientation and provide ongoing support to members 
  • Support ongoing training and support to site supervisors
  • Manage accurate and timely data collection across all AmeriCorps sites and assure timely report submissions 
  • Lead efforts to build fellowship among AmeriCorps members 
 

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Counseling, Education, or a related field OR three years of experience in Human Services, Counseling, Career Development or Education
  • Minimum of one year experience in some combination of youth development, K-12, human performance enhancement, curriculum design, corporate responsibility, social work, public administration
  • Knowledge of AmeriCorps programs
  • Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills both oral and written
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and adaptable
  • An ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills are a must
  • Comfortable using or learning Google Suite.
  • Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.

Onboarding process

  • Must complete a health physical and TB test
  • Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR letter
  • Employment is contingent upon being able to successfully pass a background check.
