JOB SUMMARY
The Strategic Content Creator is a dynamic, mission-driven storyteller and brand strategist who will generate content across digital and print channels to elevate BGCWPA’s voice, mission, and impact. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, and working closely with Advancement and Program teams, this individual will craft compelling narratives that resonate with donors, corporate partners, youth, families, and the broader community. This early-career role is perfect for a strong writer and storyteller who’s excited to use digital content to inspire action, deepen engagement, and strengthen our brand identity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Strategy & Brand Storytelling
- Write and edit engaging content for a variety of platforms, including social media posts, captions, flyers, and donor materials.
- Assist with video and photo storyboards, scripting, and coordination for marketing and fundraising campaigns.
- Conduct interviews with staff, youth, and community partners to gather stories that illustrate BGCWPA’s mission and programs.
- Create content for events, including presentations, scripts, and video narratives that support fundraising and engagement goals.
Multimedia & Digital Content Creation
- Help maintain BGCWPA’s social media presence, including scheduling posts and engaging with followers.
- Assist with content updates on the website and email campaigns.
- Track basic engagement metrics (likes, shares, opens) to help improve content performance.
- Ensure all content meets brand guidelines and reflects BGCWPA’s voice, mission, and DNA code.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Clubhouse Directors, Program Staff, and Youth Development Professionals to gather stories and insights directly from the field.
- Coordinate with program teams to ensure content accuracy and to surface story opportunities that reflect youth impact and outcomes.
- Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Advancement team to support fundraising events, campaigns, and community initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of professional experience in content creation, storytelling, or communications, preferably in a nonprofit, mission-driven, or education-focused setting.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for various audiences.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with digital platforms (WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta/LinkedIn/TikTok).
- Demonstrated understanding of inclusive and culturally competent storytelling.
- Passion for youth development, equity, and social impact.
- This position is based at BGCWPA’s Administrative Office in Pittsburgh, PA, with regular site visits to Clubhouses and community events.
